Women are being attacked and killed at an alarming number. There is no safe place, from seedy street corners to home invasions in the suburbs, women are being attacked, raped and killed every day. We as women are told to look over our shoulder, don’t aggravate weirdos, keep your information private, don’t walk alone, don’t go out at night, don’t drink, don’t talk to anyone because if you do you are just asking to be violated. Women are raised with fear, so much so that the fear is a natural part of life and we run on auto pilot taking precautions. We hear on the news so often that something seriously horrible happened again to another woman and we don’t take time to sit and really think about it. With woman being slaves to their own security, taking every precaution and still being attacked, I think it’s time we focus on what the real problem is. Were are these predators coming from? Who raised the monsters and why have they been able to slip through the cracks of society and enabled to commit acts of violence repeatedly against women? We need to be publicizing mens mental health problems and the dysfunctional justice system. Women are attacked and held responsible for their safety. It’s time these predators are exposed and change is made in the way we address violence against women.
